Yandex Cloud and industrial integrator UltimaTek have summed up the results of a study on the use of cloud technologies in the industrial sector. It turned out that over the past three years, 73% of the surveyed companies have implemented at least one project in the cloud. At the same time, only 23% of enterprises agree to place business-critical systems in it, and 46% are ready to transfer only part of the data if security guarantees are provided by providers - information security certificates, secure communication channels and access to infrastructure.
The study was conducted dominican republic whatsapp resource in the spring-summer of 2023. Representatives of 15 of Russia's largest industrial holdings took part in it - IT directors, heads of digital transformation programs and vice presidents. The total revenue of the participating companies exceeds 70% of the total volume of the Russian industrial market.
to use it for current digital projects, namely 40% of the total number of respondents. However, only 14% plan to expand the scope of their application in the future. 19% of enterprises have completely refused to use cloud technologies.
"Industrial companies are systematically engaged in digitalization. On average, a holding company can simultaneously implement about a hundred IT projects of varying scale and complexity. However, the use of cloud platforms still does not go beyond individual experiments. There are two reasons: the first is related to the fact that over the past three years, companies have invested more than 500 billion rubles in IT equipment, and because of this, they are not ready to completely abandon their infrastructure. The second is concerns related to information security. Although data protection tools are constantly evolving, large implemented projects in the industry with clear and measurable efficiency results can truly change perceptions," said Pavel Rastopshin, CEO of the UltimaTek group of companies.
Yandex Cloud Commercial Director Alexander Chernikov said that the cloud segment is only just forming, and companies are taking their first steps in it: "The cloud is used, as a rule, to create new digital products, experiments, and build analytical platforms and storages - where speed of implementation and efficiency are important. The presence of such projects means that the barrier in the form of basic mistrust of the cloud is already being overcome, in particular, due to our systematic and consistent investments in security issues and compliance with standards. The next logical step in the development of the industry will be the formation of the first technological partnerships and expansion of cooperation."
Denis Yudakov, Head of Development and Corporate Architecture at SIBUR Digital, explained why industrial companies are in no hurry to implement cloud solutions: "The use of cloud solutions in industrial companies is limited, which is due to the specific organization of the infrastructure landscape and high security requirements. Most of the tasks facing industrial companies are focused on a linear load on the infrastructure, which does not create significant advantages when having their own data processing centers. Unlike retail, which has significant fluctuations in the load on systems during periods of increased demand (which can be compensated for by a cloud dynamic infrastructure), the load in industrial companies is linear. This does not create significant economic effects, but at the same time requires increased levels of protection for applications located on cloud resources."
Most companies that have already worked in the cloud continue
