At the joint demo day of the industrial competence centers (ICC) "Mobile Communications" and "Fixed Communications" held on October 12, representatives of the companies included in the ICC reported on the progress of projects in the communications industry. The event was organized by the Russian provider of digital services and services "Rostelecom" together with the Ministry of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media of the Russian Federation.

President of PJSC Rostelecom Mikhail Oseevsky assessed the success of domestic manufacturers: "Large companies are the creators of technical policy both within the framework of strategy implementation and the main drivers of processes through the formation of long-term and large-scale orders. The work is going actively, new ideas, players, collaborations of telecom operators with development companies appear. This is a healthy market tone of the industry. In terms of subscriber equipment, we have completely switched to Russian servers. We are halfway to the appearance of domestic base stations. There are no zones that cause us anxiety or could slow down development."

Representatives of the companies included in the Mobile Communications and Fixed Communications ICCs reported on the current statuses of the projects. Alexey Shelobkov, CEO of the Yadro group of companies developing and manufacturing computing platforms, data processing and storage systems, briefly reported on the results of 2023: "In 2023, we developed and tested the basic functionalities of LTE and GSM in the Yadro laboratory, developed prototypes of the radio module, boards of the digital processing unit (BBU) and the control system (NMS). In November 2023, the first tests of the basic functionalities will begin in the operators' laboratory. The plant in Dubna, which we opened in April 2023, has produced more than 9,000 servers in six months of operation."

Alexander Komarov, CEO of Bulat LLC (a Russian manufacturer of telecommunications equipment), spoke about the company's plans for 2024: "We have chosen a model for the combined creation of 2G and 4G base stations. We are following the path of localizing the hardware and creating the program in the Russian Federation. Together with our partner, New Telecom Solutions (a manufacturer of telecom equipment - ComNews note ), we have set the task of putting the products into operation in 2024. Our project, with an implementation period until June 2025, the customer of which is Rostelecom, is entirely financed by extra-budgetary financing. We have concluded a forward contract until 2028 for the supply of 17 thousand base stations and expect that in 2024 the equipment will undergo the necessary laboratory testing and will already be installed on the network. Bulat is responsible for the implementation of the hardware base part and the execution of the forward contract. Our partner, New Telecom Solutions, is responsible for software development".
