The size of the Runet economy by the end of 2023 will amount to 16 trillion rubles (9.4% of the country's GDP). This was announced at a conference dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the Runet by Sergey Plugotarenko, General Director of the ANO "Digital Economy". Since 2012, the size of the Runet economy has grown 30 times, when it amounted to 563 billion rubles. The revenue of the top 100 Russian IT companies in 2023 amounted to 5.3 trillion rubles.
IW GROUP, is confident that malta whatsapp resource the RuNet economy will continue to grow in the coming years: "In recent years, the volume of the RuNet economy has been growing and will continue to grow, because many industries have not yet gone through the digitalization stage, and many enterprises are at the beginning of this path. The more organizations see the economic effect of reducing the cost of automation of work, the more they will join the digitalization tasks. Therefore, the volume of the RuNet economy will continue to grow."
Sergey Kosetsky, Commercial Director of the system integrator X-Com, named the reason why economic growth may decline: "One of the drivers of the RuNet economy is the rapid development of social networks and services, gradually replacing live communication with family and friends for users. And if the industry does not face excessive government regulation, then all the prerequisites for its further growth are obvious. This can only be hindered by the shortage of qualified IT specialists and developers of various profiles in the labor market, which has worsened in recent years, providing support for existing and launching new online services. Therefore, preserving and increasing human resources is one of the main tasks, the solution of which will determine the future of the Russian data economy."
Marat Tsikhmistrov, head of the audit and consulting center at the cybersecurity system integrator Innostage, noted the growth dynamics of the data economy in Russia: "It's not even the market size that's impressive, but the dynamics of its growth in Russia. For example, the global IT market is growing with a CAGR (compound annual growth rate) of about 10% in dollar terms, and the Russian market is growing even faster. I can especially highlight the growth dynamics of the information security market, individual areas are increasing revenue with an average CAGR of 13-20% or more, this is phenomenal growth."
The number of employed specialists in the IT industry who create digital services is not growing as fast as the size of the Runet economy - just over 3 million people in 2023 against 700 thousand specialists in 2012. "All these years, we have been smoothly moving from the Runet economy to the I+ economy (industries dependent on the Internet), then from 2018 - to the digital economy, and in 2024-2025 - to the data economy. And at each of these stages, the main thing was and remains people: specialists (those who create the innovative economy) and users (those who consume its services)," noted Sergey Plugotarenko.
