Search advertising, as the name suggests, is shown to users in response to a specific request they make via the search bar. For example, “buy an apartment in Krasnodar” or “order a taxi in Voronezh.”
Advertising in YAN is focused on the interests and history of the audience (the system analyzes user behavior and “catches up” with those who made similar requests or viewed thematic sites (including competitors). Such ads are displayed on Yandex partner sites. For example, if a person recently viewed free courses and articles on marketing, he or she may encounter a banner advertising a thematic online course on YAN pages.
There are several key ad formats. .
Text and graphic ads (TGA)
There are several options for how such ads are displayed in search.
The first option is when the user is just making a request. When entering a phrase in the search bar, suggestions are shown - hints on a relevant topic, which may include an advertising link:
The second option is in response to a search query. Here, TGO can be seen in the premium block, i.e. at the top of the first page:

Yandex regularly tests new ad formats on Search. They can be with images, videos, and different numbers of links. Different types of ad placement are called stencils .

Banners
A banner is a graphic ad in which the text is placed on a picture. On the Search page, it is displayed to the right of the results for the request made by the user. The banner is placed only by one advertiser and is not shown together with the product gallery. The standard format is 240×400 pixels:
