Staggered return to school: Instructions for use

Post by tanjimajuha20 »

A mistake in orientation is not dramatic… if it is detected very early! If we refer to a summary note published in 2017 by France Stratégie , it appears that nearly 75,000 young people per year drop out of higher education without even having obtained the slightest diploma. Another figure, even more worrying, underlines not only the importance of the choice of orientation, but also the need to quickly reorient oneself in the event of an error. Indeed, France Stratégie reveals that only 40% of students continue, after a first year of studies in a bachelor's degree, in the second year of the same training…

If the problem is crucial for those concerned, it is just as crucial for society because the cost of these "incidents along the way" is estimated at nearly 500 million euros per year ! After the start of the school year, the first weeks of teaching are decisive . "The main mistake students make," notes Françoise Croze-Scardulla for ESLSCA, " is often the stubbornness to continue on a path that they know from the first lessons does not suit them. You have to know how to be attentive to what you feel and not hesitate to find out before changing direction if necessary ."

Especially since solutions investor database exist! Many business schools, like ESLSCA, have implemented a second or staggered start for certain courses. " At ESLSCA, we wanted to respond to the demand of these students for reorientation during their course . The staggered start , set for April for ESLSCA, allows you not to lose an entire year ," confides Françoise Croze-Scardulla. But this opportunity to take a new path is nonetheless a challenge that requires motivation and commitment! "It represents an opportunity for students to take advantage of a quick and thoughtful reorientation so as not to waste time in their course ."

Staggered return to school: are you ready?
Not all students can claim to join a staggered intake. " In all cases, we must not lose sight of the fact that the first prerequisite concerns the course itself ," comments Françoise Croze-Scardulla. The student must have a real project , which he prepares and matures in advance ."

Indeed, the student must identify with certainty that this new start really suits him or her in order not to make the same mistake twice. Discussions with teachers and program directors are decisive. " As soon as the orientation problem is identified, the student must find alternatives, build a new project eligible for a second intake," explains Françoise Croze-Scardulla. " Then it will be a question of preparing the application and the admission interview, necessary to integrate the programs of our business school ."
