David García Baño (Google): "artificial intelligence is the new electricity"

Post by pappu636 »

On November 27 and 28, New York City will become the epicenter of Ibero-American talent. It will do so thanks to the first edition of the New York Summit , an event focused on personal and professional development, inspiration and ideas that bridge the gap between the two sides of the Atlantic.

An event that we at MarketingDirecto.com did not want to miss and in which we had the opportunity to listen to interesting presentations. One of these was given by David García Baño (Google), with the focus on one of the technological trends in vogue: artificial intelligence .

“Artificial intelligence will transform all industries,” he began by saying at the start of his presentation. “As in any moment of transformation, this represents a challenge and an opportunity.”

“Artificial intelligence was defined in the 1950s by Alan Turing with automatic machines . In the 1990s, there was a rather interesting change with the proposal of machine learning . For the first time, we did not program a machine to do something, but rather we created an algorithm to which we gave data and it learned.”

“A particular model known as neural networks was proposed , but they didn’t work. In 2010, deep learning , a type of neural network, arrived.”

Since this moment of change, two things have changed that have allowed the taiwan phone number rapid advances that are now making the development of neural networks possible : “we have more data and power.”

“When we talk about machines that think, we are talking about machines that have the same capacity to learn as we do.” We are at a time when machines “are babies” compared to the learning capacity of human beings .

Although the artificial intelligence industry is still in its infancy, the truth is that numerous applications are currently being developed in various sectors. “There are some high-level domains that are sensory,” he stressed.

One of the examples presented during the presentation on the applications of artificial intelligence has had Healthcare as its protagonist. An area in which Google has begun to work, such as the project shown below, to treat Diabetic Retinopathy:

The advancement of artificial intelligence is achieving success even in fields where it was thought that automation would never have a place. Progress is being made in areas such as security, the defence of nations or something as basic as customer service.

“Data and politics have always been used to make predictions. Imagine if we could have a model that automatically creates news for a target audience that is interesting to your political party and that can change voting intentions.”

“Let us also consider that they may be entities without any scruples,” he said, focusing on the generation of fake news . “I don’t know if there is technology of this type behind this, but it is possible that there could be in the future.”

“Artificial intelligence is the new electricity. It has the potential to disrupt industries. It is not the technology that will create value for the company but the skilled entrepreneur who knows how to do it.”

“When we talk about new technologies or artificial intelligence, it is not a new area of business. It is part of our lives because it will affect our productivity . We are not talking about removing jobs and installing a machine, but about technologies capable of making our daily lives more productive today.”

“ Data continues to be the fuel of the industry. A trend that has exploded exponentially. There is enormous value in companies that can have the data necessary to work with artificial intelligence,” since data is the differentiating element in today's industry.
