The Internet is a living, eternally mutable organism, subject to lightning-fast changes (which invariably seem to catch those who have to deal with them off guard).

The presentation given yesterday at the festival by Philipp Westermeyer , founder of Online Marketing Rockstars ( OMR ), was focused on the network of networks and the many changes it brings.

Westermeyer began his speech by echoing a sad reality: over the past year, a large part of the companies operating in the digital economy have been stripped of a huge amount of value on the stock markets. Companies such as Zoom, Peloton, or Zalando have suffered profuse bleeding and their valuation has declined massively over the course of the past few months.

However, the loss of market capitalization that many of the "players" in the digital economy industry have had to endure in recent times has passed over the true and undisputed titans in this market: the so-called GAFA (Google, Apple, Facebook and Amazon).

The GAFA seem to be immune to the ups and downs that have taken place kuwait number data in the internet arena in recent times, Westermeyer points out. Nevertheless, new players such as BeReal or Poparazzi continue to emerge, who dare to challenge the GAFA in the social media sphere in particular. "This is the only way that the internet can continue to evolve," Westermayer emphasises.

Which digital trends are hot and which ones are not?
The founder of OMR then dissected the digital trends that are currently on the crest of the wave and those that, on the contrary, have become “out of fashion”. The first group includes trends such as startups named after people (Luca, Horst or Nelly), the omnipresence of cryptocurrency companies in the advertising industry, vintage music, QR codes, gamification and “docutainment”. On the other hand, digital trends doomed to die are old Hollywood (which Netflix and company are already hot on its heels), IPOs (public acquisition offers) on the stock exchange, free content on the Internet and performance marketing.

Westermeyer concluded his presentation by highlighting what he considers to be four hidden gems of online marketing:

1. Make the most of ads supported by user-generated content
Advertising that relies on user-generated content plays on the card of relevance and authenticity.

One brand that uses this type of advertising very successfully, for example, is the juice brand Frank Juice, which, through user-generated ads, achieves a CTR that is 78% above average.
