2. Call for Papers: 15th SOAS Law PhD Colloquium 2023. SOAS School of Law is organising the 15th Law PhD Colloquium on Monday, 5 June 2023. This year’s theme is Law, Rights and Decolonisation, which is designed to address multiple contemporary legal issues, including (but not limited to): Decolonising Legal Concepts, Human Rights and Humanitarian Issues, Third World amazon database Approaches to International Law (TWAIL), State Responsibilities in International Law, Food, Energy and Natural Resources, Environment, Climate Change, Trade and Development, Investment Law and Arbitration, Contemporary Public and Private Law Issues, Disability, Ethnicity and Indigenous Rights, Freedom of Religious Beliefs, Media and Right to Protest, Gender Rights and Feminism, and Intellectual Property Rights. Participants must be enrolled on a doctoral programme (or other research degrees). A 500-word (max) abstract must be sent by Friday, 17 March 2023, to soaslawphdcolloquium {at} gmail(.)com. Submissions should accompany a 100-word bio. Successful participants will be notified by mid-April 2023 and must submit a summary paper of no more than 2000 words by Sunday 14 May 2023. Participation in the Colloquium is free. Virtual attendance could be arranged for those registered outside London institutes. Minimal travel grants might be available for UK participants who would otherwise not be able to attend.
3. Call for Papers: Just Transition, Security, Law. The University of Dundee, the Université de Pau et des Pays de l’Adour, Newcastle University, Royal Holloway University of London, with the support of the Energy Section of the Society of Legal Scholars, are organising an interdisciplinary, international conference to address the topic of the transition to a lower carbon economy, security and law. We invite scholars to think and discuss the question: Which are the challenges that security and transition create for law? Extended abstracts between 500 and 800 words, including references, which should be kept at a minimum (6-10 maximum), should be submitted to the following email by 10 March 2023: jthub-conferences {at} dundee.ac(.)uk. Please, add your title and academic affiliation and a very short biography to the text of your email. Authors will be informed about the outcome of their submissions by 17 March 2023. On acceptance, papers up to 4,000 words including references are expected by 7 May 2023. The conference will be held in Dundee. Registration opens on 10 March 2023, and information will be available on the webpage of the Just Transition Hub.
