The Grasshoppers lack identity

Post by asimd23 »

On Sunday, the Grasshoppers made history of the inglorious kind. It was a relegation to the second division in two senses: the sporting relegation to the Challenge League and the relegation from record champions and flagship to a shadow of its former self, marked by mismanagement. As if that wasn't enough, the fans in the stands also provoked the abandonment of the game. The players were spared the trip to the catacombs in their underwear, but not the humiliation.

After the glorious 90s with five philippines rcs data championship titles and participation in the then comparatively exclusive Champions League with only 16 participants, the proud Zurich club only won the championship in 2001 and 2003 and the cup victory in 2013. The increasing sporting failure was accompanied by the usual symptoms in football: debts, questionable transfer policy and constant changes in the management and coaching teams. Many also see the demolition of the venerable Hardturm Stadium as a key reason for the Hoppers' decline. In the end, however, all problems and symptoms can be traced back to the fact that the Grasshopper Club simply lacks a clearly formulated and manifested identity.

The Grasshoppers must hold on to their own self-image in this identity and formulate a mission statement that will determine the club's philosophy in every respect from now on. Potential transfer targets are selected and scouted based on their fit with the club's identity.
