The Bank of Russia wants to simplify settlements with the Central Bank of the UAE - integrate them both through the Fast Payment System and through digital currencies. First Deputy Chairman Olga Skorobogatova expects to build settlements in a year.

The Bank of Russia, which manages the Fast Payments System, will work on its integration with a similar service in the United Arab Emirates, as well as the integration of settlements malta whatsapp number database in digital currencies. This was stated at the Finopolis forum by First Deputy Chairman of the Central Bank Olga Skorobogatova.
, Assistant to the Governor of the UAE Central Bank for Banking Operations and Related Services. His position is equivalent to the status of Deputy Chairman of the UAE Central Bank, and he is also the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Al Etihad Payments, a subsidiary of the Central Bank established in 2023 that specializes in payment services.

"Mr. Saif and I solemnly promise that in the next year we will work on the topic of integrating the Fast Payment System and CBDC (central bank digital currencies. — RBC), because we are ready with the digital ruble, and our colleagues are already ready. Therefore, if we solve the issue with identification — and we will definitely need to solve it — then, I think, in a year at least we will be able to build a normal payment system for citizens and businesses between our two countries."

The fast payment system was launched by the Central Bank in early 2019. It allows you to instantly transfer money between different banks by phone number (without commission within the limit of 100 thousand rubles), as well as pay for purchases using QR codes with lower commissions than when paying with a bank card.

This year, the Bank of Russia also launched a digital ruble in test mode — a third form of money along with cash and non-cash, which will differ in that the funds will be stored on the Central Bank platform, and not in commercial banks. For now, the digital ruble is at the pilot stage — in August, only 600 people and 30 retailers received access to it, and their number will gradually expand.

The UAE also launched its own digital currency, the Central Bank Digital Dirham (CBDC), in 2023.
