The battle for the development of 5G is not only being fought between mobile operators, but also in the automotive industry. The arrival of the connected car has generated a division of opinions between agents in the sector and authorities to determine which connection system these vehicles should incorporate.
While some are betting on 5G as a much more powerful, faster and longer-range technology, others are in favour of the connection being made via WiFi, a much more secure network as it is consolidated in the digital market.
The European Commission supported the second option, but 21 of the 27 EU bahrain phone number countries rejected its proposal.
States to address their concerns and find an appropriate way forward,” said European Transport Commissioner Violeta Bulc after the outcome was announced.
And this way forward is none other than 5G technology, a network in which operators and technology companies have invested millions of euros and which they are willing to promote in all market sectors.
The challenge for European authorities now is to find the best way to regulate a technology with infinite capabilities and unforeseeable consequences in order to ensure security at all levels.
