Diving into the origins of the metaverse
The prefix “meta” comes from Greek and means “beyond.” In Mark Zuckerberg’s eyes, the metaverse is the next logical step in the network of networks. And it is conceived as an operational interface that we can not only contemplate (World Wide Web) or carry with us (mobile Internet) but in which we can also immerse ourselves. The gateway to the metaverse are virtual reality glasses that allow us to enter environments where the real world and digital objects come together.

To move around in the metaverse, the user also needs to equip himself with avatars that represent him in the digital universe and allow him to interact with other users.
The avatars that users choose to navigate the turbulent waters of the metaverse can also be used in other environments. And their operation is to a certain extent similar to that of emojis, whose design varies slightly from one platform to another but is conveniently standardized.
In the metaverse, avatars also allow users to adopt genders other than those they display in the real world and even put themselves in the skin of animals or mythological creatures.
