Nahid Hossain Natore Correspondent: A young man named Majnu Sheikh (27) was murdered in front of a grocery shop in Gopalpur Garmati area of Baraigram, Natore. He is the son of Nur Ali Sheikh of Garmati village.
On Sunday night, around 8:30 pm, Korban Pramanik (35), son of Akher Pramanik of the same area, repeatedly hit him with a wooden stick in front of the shop and died around 10 pm when he was brought home unconscious. The killer Korban is absconding after the incident. On Monday morning, the police sent Majnu's body to the Natore Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
Local village police officer Yasin Sheikh said that at country email list night, Majnu was sitting on a bench in front of Qutub Ali's shop located at the intersection of three roads in Garmati Majhipara and asked for a bidi from local Azgar Ali. At that time, Qorban, who was present, started abusing Majnu for asking for an authentic bidi. At one point, when Majnu also started abusing him, Qorban repeatedly hit him on the head and various parts of his body with a wooden stick. Majnu ran for his life and fell into a nearby pond. Later, others present rescued Majnu unconscious and brought him home in Mithu's van, and he died soon after due to bleeding from his nose and ears.
Baraigram Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Dilip Kumar Das admitted the truth of the murder and said that all efforts are being made to arrest the killer, Qurban Ali. Preparations are underway to file a case at the police station.
