Why Platform Engineering Has Become Widespread
There are many reasons why platform engineering makes sense for many companies. At its most basic level, it enables organizations to increase the speed of innovation, delivery, and efficiency.

According to Kapil Tandon, Puppet's vice president of product management in the IT Ops division, platform engineering is very good at addressing the pressures that all companies face today. This includes the need to simplify the DevOps lifecycle and manage the increased complexity of modern software architectures in a simple, methodical, and repeatable way.

, product management manager for Puppet, automation is key to platform engineering. “We’re seeing companies understand and see the benefits of automation at an organizational level,” she said. “It’s easy for individuals and teams to see the benefits because they were previously siloed; now there’s true organizational alignment around how and why they should embrace it.”

The intersection of security and oman mobile database engineering
The report highlighted security as a top priority, with 43% of respondents saying they have dedicated security and compliance staff on their platform team.

Additionally, 51% of respondents noted that these teams are responsible for ensuring that software and tool versions are up to date when security updates are made. Of particular note, 70% of respondents reported that security was built into their platforms from the start.

For Lee, the fact that security was built into the platform early on was a bit of a surprise. “We’ve seen in the past that security was top of mind for people, but DevOps teams weren’t always actively involved in ensuring it,” she said.

Solving platform engineering problems
The report lists areas where platform teams still face challenges:

41% need a deeper understanding of internal user needs;
36% noted the correct distribution of resources as a problem;
34% reported that adapting work processes to tools is difficult;
34% have difficulty communicating with developers.
