Election Day is Not a Payday

Post by asimd23 »

Howgh, the Swiss people have spoken: Switzerland is becoming greener. It may be good for the environment, but less so for the communications industry. Or to put it briefly: Parliament is green, advertisers see red.

The Council of States' restrictions on cigarette advertising were just the beginning. Are you betting that the new parliament already has the next sectors in its sights? Which is hardly rcs data malaysia surprising: advertising is representative of all the ills on this planet. In Zurich this summer, the Jusos covered up posters for Swiss and Helvetic, the Bern city parliament is considering a ban on car and aircraft advertising, in Basel the Greens want to ban meat advertising, and in Geneva an initiative even wants to make the entire city poster-free.

It used to be different: advertising had sex appeal, and its representatives were creative luminaries who celebrated their existence in the Zurich Kronenhalle and the Basel Kunsthalle. But today, hostility towards advertising is in keeping with the spirit of the times. People tend to forget that the industry generates a turnover of 7 billion Swiss francs and employs over 22,000 people.

Conclusion: Any advertisement that promotes a life-threatening product is suspect. Only the most life-threatening organization of all is surprisingly tolerant. It is Exit. This week, the euthanasia organization advertised in the NZZ and the Tagi with page-sized advertisements (see below). No one was upset.
