The K2Tech company reported that its experts interviewed more than 100 e-com directors of Russian companies, the vast majority of respondents (75%) said that they encounter difficulties related to e-commerce platforms and equipment. The main reason is business growth, which outpaces the rate of updating platforms and equipment.
Respondents noted that over the past year, the cost of maintaining an e-com platform has increased by one and a half to two times, depending on various factors. They also noted problems integrating new solutions with other systems, low server speed, loss of stability during peak loads, and the need to expand functionality.

The IT infrastructure of 51% of Russian companies is not ready for the implementation of artificial intelligence (AI). Of these, 34% stated a shortage of infrastructure solutions and ready-made tools for deploying AI on the market, the rest - about the need to expand computing power within the company for this task.
Among other challenges faced by e-commerce companies, respondents named information security risks (68%), such as SQL injection, XSS, DDoS attacks, phishing emails, web skimming and social engineering attacks on customers. In third place were "building long-term relationships with customers" (65%), in fourth place were "problems with analytics and data" (34%), and in fifth place (29%) were "issues related to the supply chain" affecting the timeliness of product delivery.
"The rapid growth of the online trading market poses a priority task for companies to modernize their IT infrastructure and e-commerce platforms," said Alexey Zagaynov, Director of Retail Solutions Promotion at K2Tech.
A representative of the press service of K2Tech LLC told a ComNews correspondent that the "factor" in the message refers to the growth of business, prices, programmers' salaries and scaling, while the increase in attacks by intruders is the subjective opinion of e-com directors.
According to Vera Modenova, the operational director of Flowwow LLC (the Flowwow flower and gift marketplace), difficulties with equipment and the platform when scaling a business may indicate a lack of standardization and unpreparedness of processes in the team. She noted that this problem needs to be solved constantly with rapid growth, and this problem concerns not so much e-commerce as entrepreneurial activity in general.
"However, it should be noted that maintaining the platform has become one and a half to two times more expensive for businesses. And as a result, this can slow down development, because an entrepreneur must spend more money to maintain the existing level of service, which could be spent on business development," Vera Modenova told a ComNews correspondent.
