What was important to you?

Talent Days: What were you looking for in a future employer?
Agnieszka: First of all, I wanted it to be a company that is a leader in the industry. I knew that this would ensure my continuous development and that I would be able to learn from the best – experienced experts. The second most important factor for me was the atmosphere in the company. I had a recruitment interview with my potential (and now current) manager and one of the analysts from the team I currently work in. The atmosphere during the meeting turned out to be great, so I knew that by getting this job, I would be in the right place.
Talent Days: Did you feel after the interview that you would get the job?
Agnieszka: Honestly, I thought no. I list of south korea consumer email
remember the meeting very positively, although of course these types of interviews are always a bit stressful. I didn't feel like I had made any mistakes, but I didn't appreciate myself enough and I thought I had too little experience. I was also afraid that the course of study I had completed, Polish philology, might be a barrier. It's not related to finance, accounting or economics, which are the topics that the job in this position would revolve around. Three days after the recruitment interview, I got a phone call with a positive decision and... I was very pleasantly surprised!
Talent Days: What was the recruitment process like? Were there any difficult questions?
Agnieszka: After submitting my application, the very next day I received a call from the recruitment department with an invitation to an interview. I also received a very detailed email with guidelines – what I could expect at the interview and how I could prepare. Most of the interview consisted of questions about ideas for solving sample situations that could be encountered in this position. It seems to me that both my manager and I have a similar assumption that certain things can be learned very quickly and that work culture and beliefs are extremely important.
Talent Days: How did you go about settling into your new team?
Agnieszka: Very good, from day one. My team has been very supportive. I have specialists around me, whom I can contact with any question or problem. I managed to achieve my previously set goal, i.e. to get a job where the atmosphere is great and relaxed. I can count not only on my direct superior, but also on other managers in our department. This makes it a lot easier.
Talent Days: I'll come back to your experiences from participating in Talent Days. Did you take part in any workshops or other additional activities or did you come to the fair solely to apply to BNY Mellon?
Agnieszka: Not in workshops, but I took part in short 1:1 conversations with employers as part of the Talent Match project. It allowed me to see what the recruitment process looks like in large foreign corporations. I remember that I liked the BNY Mellon platform for submitting applications. It was new to me, because I had previously only applied to smaller, Polish companies, where the process looked different.
Talent Days: What are your next career goals? I'm asking about both short-term and long-term goals. Do you have any specific plans for your career path?
Agnieszka: I hope that in a shorter rather than longer time I will be able to deepen the knowledge that I already have and that I gained thanks to a year of work at BNY Mellon. I think that the next level, a senior position, is more and more within my reach. I hope to be associated with the company for a longer time and maybe develop in some other areas of investment banking. The sky is the limit!
